About Glen Cove

Glen Cove is a city in Nassau County, New York on the North Shore of Long Island. As of the United States 2010 Census, the city population was 26,964. The Mayor is Mr. Ralph V. Suozzi, cousin of former Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi. Part of the early 20th century Gold Coast of the North Shore, Glen Cove has a diverse population. Glen Cove is one of the two of Nassau County's five municipalities which is a city, rather than a town. The other city in Nassau County is Long Beach.

The city is on the north shore of Long Island, adjacent to Long Island Sound. The hills that stretch along the north shore of Long Island, on which Glen Cove is built, are the terminal moraines left by glaciers of the last ice age.

The City of Glen Cove is bordered on three sides by the Town of Oyster Bay. The Town of Oyster Bay villages and hamlets bounding Glen Cove are (clockwise from the north east): Lattingtown, Locust Valley, Matinecock, Glen Head, and Sea Cliff. To the north, the city is bordered by Long Island Sound.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 19.2 square miles (49.9 km²), of which, 6.7 square miles (17.2 km²) of it is land and 12.6 square miles (32.7 km²) of it (65.51%) is water.
